I really want to help her because she has already asked for my help. She knows that she’s got a problem, but she can’t help it anyway. She keeps on buying prescription drugs and gets high. I’m planning on looking for a treatment center for her because I think this is the only way I can help. I don’t know how to find those, though.

I believe all alcohol or drug rehabs use the 12 step program as part of their criteria. Everyone that I know that has been in any of these programs, the 12 steps were used along with an AA or NA book. They did other things too but yes if I was going to bet, I would that she will be exposed to this program. Ur a good friend. Wishing U the best.

My friend called me after spending a week and a half in a drug treatment center and he tells me that he is out for the weekend. He says they gave him a ‘Weekend Pass’ for having a month of sobriety, when I know for sure that he was using right before he left for the center… Trust him???

I’m a recovered alcoholic who went into a drug/alcohol rehab centre in 2006, first of all alcoholics and drug addicts are the world’s best liars, and I think it’s extremely unlikely.

My opnion is AA if you are serious and have hit the point where your willing to do whatever it takes then your ready for AA is a program of one alcoholic helping another. Taking the suggestions of others and following the steps as outlined in the AA Big Book recovery is possible. Rehabs are there in my opinion to take you out of the enviroment your in and put you in a safe place and at the end tell you to go to AA. I feel you can stop drinking without rehab if you fully imerse your self in AA but if you think you are going to go through a detox professional help is needed.

I know where I’m from..PA…to be approved for disability (not ssi) you have to have so much in taxes paid (held a job for so many years) not sure the numbers…because I have a kidney and ovary disease and my doctor put me on temp. disability(well it’s always supposed to be temp. unless it’s a uncurable condition, but everyone abuses the system) but I couldn’t get disabilty because I didn’t qualify…well good luck. it’s a long process.
